Aston Villa could be set to move for Burnley striker Nahki Wells in January, according to Bermudan publication The Royal Gazette, via a report by the Birmingham Mail.

The former Huddersfield and Bradford City striker has been out of favour with the Clarets this season despite only signing in the summer, and a January loan move could well be what Wells needs to get his Premier League career on track following that move.

Villa are looking to make shrewd moves in the transfer market in January following Steve Bruce's admission that the club will have to wheel and deal and look for bargains in the window with FFP restrictions beginning to make an impact on the club.

Wells was in excellent form for the Terriers last season as he helped guide them to promotion to the Premier League, and that form prompted Burnley manager Sean Dyche to part with some funds to secure his signature in the summer.

However, with the signing of Chris Wood and the form of Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes, Wells has struggled to have any sort of impact at Turf Moor, and he might well be open to a move himself come January.

Villa are currently occupying a playoff spot in the Championship and look on course to seal a place in the top six with their current run of form.

Villa fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
