Aston Villa are willing to let defensive duo Tommy Elphick and Micah Richards leave this summer, according to The Express and Star.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is willing to shuffle his pack this summer and is likely to make a number of defender changes.

This includes bringing in one or two players and Bruce continues to monitor some of his targets.

John Terry is expected to join the club shortly while Bruce is also keen to bring in Bristol City giant Aden Flint.

As a result, there may be some departures at the back too.

James Chester and Nathan Baker appear to be Steve Bruce's first choice pairing and will probably both be retained.

However, Tommy Elphick and Micah Richards' futures are in doubt.

Tommy Elphick only joined the Villains last summer from Premier League Bournemouth and Roberto di Matteo made him captain.

However, a string of error-riddled performances led to him being dropped and he never really regained his place in the side.

Micah Richards, on the other hand, spent most of last year out injured.

Able to play as a right back or as a centre back, the former England international is on high wages and might be difficult to shift.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa expect that Kevin Toner will be sent out on loan to League One again next season unless he seriously impresses in pre-season.
