Aston Villa could be set for a decent windfall if former player Adama Traore completes a move away from Middlesbrough in this window.

The lightning quick winger was a key performer for the North East side last season, a major reason behind their play-off push that was ultimately ended by Villa in the semi-final.

And, such form has not gone unnoticed with Wolves and Huddersfield both heavily linked with a move for the player in recent days.

The reports suggested he could cost around £18m and Villa would be in line for 20% of that deal, according to Birmingham Live.

They revealed a tweet from owner Tony Xia in the past stating that the West Midlands side are in line for a percentage of Traore's future fee, and they state it could be as much as 20% which would be around £3.6m.

Such a fee would be very welcome for the club given their awful financial situation that has been well-documented in recent weeks.

Spanish winger Traore joined Villa in 2015 but stayed for just one season, that resulted in relegation, before leaving for Boro.

The Verdict

Given Villa's financial troubles, they will be desperate for this deal to go though as it's an unexpected bonus that will help the club.

The deal also proves that it's beneficial to put such clauses in deals, particularly on talented, younger players, like Traore is.

It appears a deal will happen at some point as there's a lot of interest in the player and he deserves a Premier League move following his performances in the previous campaign.
