Aston Villa U23 winger Tyreik Wright has signed a new contract at the club, but he is expected to be shipped out on another loan ahead of the upcoming campaign.

According to a report by The Athletic, Leyton Orient, Salford City, and Swindon Town are all interested in the teenager.

The 19-year-old spent the second half of last season in League Two with Walsall, in a spell where he provided three assists in 16 appearances. Prior to last season's League Two move, the highly-rated winger was a regular with Villa's U23 side, and in March he made his debut for the Republic of Ireland U21.

It is now expected that Wright will embark on another loan spell, and despite being within the same division, the three clubs who have shown interest will all have promotion aspirations.

The report also states that decisions about Louie Barry and Brad Young, who were both integral to Villa's FA Youth Cup triumph, will soon be made about where they will be playing their football next season.

The verdict

As a young footballer trying to establish himself in the game, loan deals in the EFL can be pivotal. Last season Wright showed he can compete within the division and now it seems like he will have an opportunity to impress once again.

The fact that these sides are likely to be competing at the top end of the league perhaps suggests that he will see a lot more of the ball, meaning he will have more of an opportunity to express himself.

A successful loan spell at any of these clubs will stand him in a good position to keep progressing through the ranks at Villa. The willingness to succeed is evidently there by his desire to go out and play first-team football. It is now about kicking on from this point and turning his potential into action.
