Championship playoff chasers Aston Villa are still eyeing a move for Wigan midfielder Nick Powell, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Villans are keen to add new players to their squad in January but manager Steve Bruce has made no secret of the fact that he needs to ship players out before he can go spending money in the market.

However, with numerous Villa fringe players set for moves, Bruce will be confident of sealing a deal for Powell, a player he worked with at Hull City previously.

Powell was a product of the Crewe Alexandra academy and earned himself a move to Premier League giants Manchester United following some scintilliating performances for the Alex, but his career at Old Trafford never took off, and he's spent the majority of his career on loan with various clubs.

He has though however found a good permanent home at the DW, and his form this season has led the Latics to a charge at promotion back to the Championship.

Powell would no doubt jump at the chance to join a club like Villa, with the chance of working with Bruce something which could also appeal to him.

Villa fans, what do you think? Would Powell be a good signing? Let us know!
