Aston Villa readying late bid to sign in-demand EFL forward

Aston Villa are reportedly set to make a move for AFC Bournemouth forward Josh King according to Football Insider.

King has been the subject of considerable interest from Premier League clubs over the summer, although a move is yet to materialise.

Sky Sports have recently revealed that West Ham have seen a bid of £13million rejected by Bournemouth, as we edge closer to Deadline Day.

King caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for Bournemouth last season, although his efforts weren’t quite enough, as the Cherries were relegated from the Premier League.

The Norwegian international is likely to continue to be linked with a move elsewhere, with the forward only making one appearance for Bournemouth this season, which came in the EFL Cup.

Football Insider are now claiming that Aston Villa are set to launch a ‘concrete move’ for King, ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline at 5pm.

Dean Smith’s side are currently sat second in the Premier League table after their opening three matches, and the club are clearly keen to add depth to their attacking options before the transfer window slams shut.

The Verdict:

He’d be an excellent addition to the Aston Villa team.

We’ve already seen what standard they can perform to, having thrashed reigning Premier League champions Liverpool before the international break.

So, you would imagine that King would be tempted by a move to Villa Park, as Dean Smith’s side are a team that are heading in the right direction under his management.

Competition for places is never a bad dilemma to have for a manager, and I think that King would be more than capable of challenging for a regular starting spot in the Aston Villa team if an agreement was reached to see him leave Bournemouth.
