Aston Villa’s official Twitter account has confirmed that Jonathan Kodjia will now serve a one-match suspension for his dismissal against Fulham on Monday.

Kodjia received a red card in the 22nd minute, after retaliating to a challenge from Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks, and was due to serve a three-match suspension for violent conduct.

However, Villa have appealed Kodjia’s suspension and the Ivorian will now be available to Steve Bruce for the final two fixtures of the season against Blackburn Rovers and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 27-year old will be unavailable for Villa against Birmingham City, in Sunday’s Second-City derby.

Bruce’s side have not recorded a victory in their last three fixtures and suffered back-to-back 3-1 defeats over the Easter period.

Villa are currently 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table, and will be looking to restore some pride between now and the end of the season, after a disappointing campaign.

Villa fans… How much of a blow is Kodjia’s absence against Birmingham? Let us know in the comments!
