Footage has emerged on Aston Villa’s official Twitter account of winger Jack Grealish training ahead of his long-awaited return from injury.

The former England U21 man picked up the injury in a freak clash in a preseason match-up with Watford at Villa Park, which saw the player require a concerning operation on his kidney.

It was expected that Grealish would miss the first three months of the new campaign, and fans can expect to see the youngster back in action towards the end of October.

The 22-year-old has been at the club since the age of six, and graduated into the first team back in 2012 when Villa were in the Premier League.

The player has been rocked by scandal in recent years, with one picture emerging of him sprawled out in the street whilst on a drunk night out on the holiday island of Tenerife in 2015.

The Verdict

Grealish has been extremely hit and miss since breaking into the first team five years ago, but at spells last term began to exhibit the talent he had showed as a youngster.

His return will be a welcome boost to a Villa squad already buoyed by the return of Jonathan Kodjia from a long-term injury problem, and Grealish will expect to be back in the first team in no time.

The youngster remains full of potential and talent, and if he has a good season upon his return, Villa can expect to be in the top six this year.
