New Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is preparing a deal to bring Jordan Rhodes to the club in January, according to the Sun.
Scottish international Rhodes has not quite hit the form which saw him seal a £9m move to the Middlesbrough in January, and new Villa manager Bruce looks set to try and swoop and complete a loan move for Rhodes.
Rhodes made his name with Huddersfield Town, where he became a goalscoring sensation in League One before continuing equally good form in the Championship for Blackburn, after helping the Terriers to promotion five seasons ago.
A move to Boro was finally completed in January after many transfer windows full of speculation, and he scored a few vital goals to help the Boro finally seal a return to the Premier League.
However, he has been overlooked this season by manager Aitor Karanka, with the Spaniard preferring Alvaro Negredo in the main.
Aston Villa got Bruce’s reign as manager off to a decent start, picking up a point against local rivals Wolves yesterday. However, despite adding Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia in big money deals in the summer, they have struggled for goals and Bruce obviously sees Rhodes as the answer.
Villa fans, what do you think? Would Rhodes be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
