Aston Villa prepared to sell midfielder in order to sign Premier League man

Published

Aston Villa are ready to offload Ashley Westwood to Burnley in order to fund a move for Crystal Palace captain Mile Jedinak, reports the Mirror.

Westwood was part of Villa’s relegated squad and following the club’s 3-1 defeat to Luton Town on Wednesday evening, manager Roberto Di Matteo has stepped up his attempts to overhaul his squad.

Villa also lost their opening Championship fixture to Sheffield Wednesday and their manager will be hoping that Australian international Jedinak will be able to add some steel to a Villa midfield, that still looks a little limp.

Di Matteo’s side still remain one of the favourites for the title and he will be keen to ensure his side remain in the running, despite a poor start.

Villa play their first home game of the season this weekend, where they welcome Rotherham United to the Midlands and they will hope to pick up their first points of the campaign.
