According to TEAMtalk, Premier League side Aston Villa are preparing a double swoop for Middlesbrough duo Britt Assombalonga and Darren Randolph.

This comes after the Villains were hit with two serious injury blows after their victory over Burnley on New Year's Day. Striker Wesley Moraes is out for the season, as well as goalkeeper Tom Heaton who will also miss the European Championships in the summer.

Boro will hope to hold on to their key players, but will know that if any serious bid comes in, it may be worth considering as it would offer Jonathan Woodgate an opportunity to bring more of his own players into the side.

It is yet to be seen whether Assombalonga can make it at Premier League level, and with his recent injury problems Boro would probably be happy to accept a double figure sum for the striker.

If Aston Villa are to stay in the Premier League then they must act fast and replace their injured players.

The Verdict

Middlesbrough won't be wanting to let their best players go but it could be help continue the revamp at the club as Woodgate looks to put his own stamp on things.

Villa seriously need players after the injuries that they suffered to two key players. This could mean that if a bid was to come in, Boro could try and force the price up due to the Premier League side being desperate for replacements.

It's set to be another topsy turvy transfer window, and it'll be interesting to see if the duo decide to leave Boro in January.
