Aston Villa plotting move for 6ft 3 defender

Published

on

Aston Villa have made a bid for Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi with an initial loan, according to L’Equipe via GetFootballNewsFrance.

The offer on the table from Villa is a €1.1million loan fee with a €7.7million purchase option at the end of the season if Villa want to keep the defender, report GFNFrance.

The 20-year-old played 33 times in Ligue 2 for Le Havre last season, scoring four goals.

Moukoudi would become Steve Bruce’s seventh signing of the summer after the arrivals of John McGinn, Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El Ghazi, Andrea Moreira, Orjan Nylund and Axel Tuanzebe.

Bruce currently has three options at centre-back and only cover for one position with James Chester, Tuanzebe and the less fancied Tommy Elphick his only current options.

Midfielder Mile Jedinak has been filling in at times this season much to the dismay of the fans so it is not a huge surprise that Bruce is looking for another option.

The verdict

This looks to be a good move for Villa.

Moukoudi is clearly very highly rated and at just 20 would be a decent investment as well. If it stops Mile Jedinak filling in at centre-back I think it can only be a good thing.
