Aston Villa are plotting a move for Sheffield Wednesday talisman, Adam Reach.

If reports in the Daily Star (January 8, Page 45) are to be believed, then Dean Smith is set to test the resolve of the Hillsborough club and make a bid for the attacker.

Reach has scored six goals in 27 Championship appearances for the Owls and has been one of their bright sparks in what has been a rather dark season for the Sheffield side.

And it is claimed that Villa will launch a bid for the 25-year-old to improve their attack as they look to close the gap on the top six and make a late charge for the end of season play-offs.

Sheffield Wednesday reportedly want £10million for the winger, who can play as a full-back or further forward.

The verdict

This would be some signing for Aston Villa and a huge, huge loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

Ironically it is Steve Bruce’s former club looking to take players off of Bruce’s new employers

And if Dean Smith can get the attacker to Villa Park, it would add more attacking threat and flair to Villa who could be without Tammy Abraham should he move to Wolves.

If that happens, Villa will need to compensate for the striker’s departure, and adding Reach would be a brilliant move.

He has been the Owls' best player this term, and he is more than capable of hitting those performance levels for Villa if he was to join.
