Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick is set to undergo a medical at Hull City ahead of potential season-long loan at the KCOM Stadium.

According to Sky Sports, the 30-year-old is poised to make the move to Hull City, and is due to undergo a medical for Nigel Adkins team.

Elphick, who played most of career for now Premier League sides Brighton and Hove Albion and Bournemouth, has been on the books at Aston Villa since June 2016.

Having only made 43 appearances for the Claret and Blue Army in his three seasons, and with Steve Bruce’s side looking to add reinforcements to their back line throughout this summer’s transfer window, it is no surprise that Elphick is being considered for a loan move away.

Elphick spent the latter stages of the 2017/18 Championship season on loan at Reading, but only managed to make four appearances for the club.

Hull City, who have won just one of their opening five fixtures of the season, have struggled defensively so far this campaign, and the introduction of a new dominant centre half could help their season turn around.

The Verdict

With the likes of Le Havre's Harold Moukoudi potentially playing a part for Steve Bruce’s side this season, it leaves Tommy Elphick well down the pecking order at Villa Park.

The experienced centre back, who certainly knows how to guide a team to success having captained Bournemouth to Championship glory in 2015, would be a strong addition to the Tigers defence.

Nigel Adkins is leaving it late to secure the deal, but the medical is complete and the deal goes through, this’ll be good move for player and club.
