Burton Albion have completed the signing of Indiana Vassilev on a season-long loan from Aston Villa.

The League One outfit have confirmed the arrival of the forward in the last 24 hours, with the 19-year-old set for a chance to earn some much-needed experience in senior football.

Vassilev arrives at Burton with plenty of experience in Villa’s youth set-up, with the American scoring six goals for the under-23s.

Senior appearances have been harder to come by, but Burton’s new loanee has made six appearances at Villa, including four substitute cameos in the Premier League.

On the back of his arrival in Burton, there’s been a message of support from Villa legend Stiliyan Petrov.

Taking to Twitter, Petrov wrote: “Good luck Indi. Great addition to the club guys. Great attitude, ability and always strive to get better.”

Vassilev links up with Jake Buxton’s side for the remainder of the League One season, with Burton looking to bounce back after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town on the opening day of the season last weekend.

The Verdict

This is a really good opportunity for the American to pick up valuable experience in League One.

The deal has a seal of approval from a Villa legend in Petrov, which should fill the Burton fans with confidence.

If the 19-year-old can hit the ground running, he will help Buxton turn the ship around at Burton.
