Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia has taken to his personal Twitter account to thank the club’s fans for their support, after a disappointing Sky Bet Championship season.

It has been an underwhelming season at Villa Park, with Steve Bruce’s side never mounting a serious Play-Off challenge and finishing 13th in the Championship table, despite entering the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion.

Kodjia has been a shining light for the club, bagging 19 Championship goals, but suffered a broken ankle in last weekend’s defeat to Blackburn Rovers, which ended his season prematurely.

The 27-year old took to social media to deliver a message to the supporters, he said: “Although it's not been the season we all wished for, I'd like to thank you for the way you supported the team thru it. #UTV.”

Bruce’s side finished the Championship season with a 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, where a late goal from Jack Grealish rescued Villa a point and denied the Seagulls the title.
