Midfielder Conor Hourihane has replied to his club's amusing tweet, claiming that the Irishman couldn't be rewarded the first goal in their 2-0 victory over Rotherham United at the weekend.

The 26 year-old, who arrived at Villa in January from Barnsley, went away in celebration after the ball hit the net despite highlights clearly showing the last touch came off the Millers' Will Vaulks, who slid it into his own goal from an Albert Adomah cross.

The exact words of Hourihane's tweet were ''Harsh.....clear touch.''

A number of Aston Villa fans sent a reply into their star man saying he should claim the goal and showing their praise for the winter transfer window signing.

Conor Hourihane bagged his first for the club in a win over Bristol City last week and has become a fan favourite at Villa Park since joining, making seven appearances for the Villans.

Villa face a tricky encounter with David Wagner's promotion chasing Huddersfield Town in their next Sky Bet Championship fixture tomorrow.

What did you make of the tweet? Was it a clear Hourihane goal or put in by the defender? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
