The new Aston Villa owners are not willing to see midfielder Jack Grealish to Premier League side Tottenham.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Nassef Sawaris and Wes Edens, Aston Villa’s new majority owners, are believed to have immediately put more money into the club, and blocked any move for the 22-year-old.
Tottenham were interested in a £20m move for the attacking midfielder, but the deal seems to be off after the most recent update, despite the clubs financial situation.
Grealish made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Claret and Blue Army last season, finding the net just three times and contributing six assists.
Despite his lack of goals, the young midfielder was subject to huge speculation and reportedly looked set for a big money move to the Premier League.
Aston Villa missed out on a chance at playing in England’s top flight last season, after falling short in the play-off final against Fulham.
The move to Tottenham looked all but sealed for Jack Grealish, but this update suggests he might just be at Villa Park that little bit longer.
There is no denying that the youngster does have potential, and he will be able to show that this season, but it looks ever more likely to be for his local club.
But, it might just be a blessing in disguise for Tottenham, as £20m seems a lot to pay for a player who didn’t get to double figures in his tally of goals and assists last season.
