Aston Villa’s attention will firmly be on the Sky Bet Championship’s promotion race, with Steve Bruce’s side in an excellent position.

A place in the top-six is already guaranteed for Villa, with the play-offs looking their most likely route back to the Premier League.

All of Bruce’s focus will be going into ending Villa’s Championship nightmare in the coming weeks, with very little thought going into a huge summer ahead.

Whether Villa find themselves preparing for a Premier League return, or another year in the Championship, the summer is going to be key, with the playing squad at Villa Park certainly needing some reshaping.

Whilst Bruce will be looking no further than Villa’s next fixture, we take a look ahead to the summer, identifying ONE player we believe Villa need to seal a deal for, before casting an eye over TWO more that they should be targeting…

Johnstone is on-loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, with the £2.25m-rated goalkeeper extremely impressive.

The 25-year-old wants Premier League football next season, but whatever division Villa find themselves in, they have to make sure that Johnstone is returning.

Without a consistent and reliable goalkeeper, it is hard to be successful.

Villa can’t afford to be going into next season without Johnstone.

Left-back has been a problem position for Villa this season, with Neil Taylor and Alan Hutton sharing the duty of balancing that side of defence.

Next year, Bruce will want a reliable, natural fit on the left side of defence.

If Villa look across the Championship for a option, Bryan is the obvious choice.

Grabban is another player currently on-loan at Villa Park.

The striker arrived in January from AFC Bournemouth, and is delivering, as Villa go in search of promotion.

The 30-year-old has scored seven goals in claret and blue, with his contribution more than deserving of a permanent move in the summer.
