Villa are close to returning to the Premier League with three play-off games all that stands between them and their aim.

The 1-0 victory over Leeds ensured a play-off finish for Steve Bruce's men with an automatic promotion finish highly unlikely.

They stand a good chance of getting promoted because of Bruce's pedigree in this regard as well as the experience which can help them through the tough moments as well as easing nerves.

There are still issues with the squad, though, such as the high average age which needs to be brought down as well as whether Terry decides to stay, so their summer transfer business is important especially if they do get promoted.

Here are four players they should be looking at...

Worrall is one of the players to have lost out when Aitor Karanka became manager because he was shoved down into fourth place in the pecking order. This was in contrast to Mark Warburton who gave him plenty of opportunities.

Karanka is in the midst of a project at Forest and he may decide to bring in more players who are suited to his methods with experience a preference.

Worrall is a talented prospect with high potential, so Villa could pry him away with an eye on the long-term. The experience in the Villa defence could help him develop even if he didn't get much playing time. It would help solve the long-term issues they have in the centre-back role.

Saiz has played well in his debut season with five goals and seven assists in 2468 league minutes. However, Leeds have struggled this season and currently find themselves in 14th place.

He would add some creativity to Villa's central areas and provide competition for Jack Grealish which would aid the youngster's development. A significant bid could take him away from Leeds especially if Villa do get promoted.

Villa may want someone with more of a reputation or Premier League experience, but Saiz has the potential to be a bargain and it's likely that he could deal with the gap in quality between the Championship and the Premier League.

Leko is an academy graduate of local rivals West Brom where he has a good reputation. He was on loan at Bristol City, but Alan Pardew called him back early to assess whether he could use him in the first-team.

His direct dribbling threat works well with his vision to create a dynamic final third threat which would add another weapon to Villa's armoury.

He is only 18-years-old as well, so he has plenty of time to continue his development, thereby helping lower the average age of the squad and adding another long-term prospect to the squad.

Maupay would be a useful striker to provide competition to Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan. He has 12 goals and four assists in just 2245 league minutes.

At 21-years-old, he has a promising future and he could follow Hogan in moving from Brentford to Villa with the Irish striker fitting in seamlessly.

Villa need more depth in forward positions with Gabriel Agbonlahor and Lewis Grabban moving at the end of the season and Ross McCormack being a flop. Maupay has the skillset to thrive at Villa because he can be involved in intricate passages of play in the final third or just be a prolific finisher in the box if needed.
