It has been a season to remember for Aston Villa and later on today their decent season could turn into an incredible one should they get past Fulham in the Championship Play-Off Final and secure promotion to the Premier League.

For midfielder Henri Lansbury, however, it has been a campaign to forget amid a series of injuries and several spells on the sidelines as a peripheral member of Steve Bruce's squad.

The ex-Forest man has played just 10 times for the Villains during the 2017/18 campaign and despite causing a bit of a stir when he departed the City Ground in 2017, the question could be asked as to whether or not the Reds could benefit from their former player's services now.

Reds' boss Aitor Karanka secured the permanent services of Ben Watson and Adlène Guedioura on deadline day during the January transfer window, whilst Jack Colback also arrived on loan for six months to indicate that the Spaniard seems to like his squads well stocked when it comes to central midfielders.

During his time at Forest, Lansbury was largely playing in poor sides with managers who played negative football and that didn't really suit his style of play. Playing under Karanka, however, might change that and bring the best out of the 27-year-old.

A move from Forest for the ex-Arsenal trainee seems highly unlikely at this stage, especially given that his wages are thought to be in the region of £40,000 per-week but nonetheless there is little to doubt that Lansbury is far too good to be sitting on a Championship bench and not playing regular first-team football.

Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome Lansbury back at the City Ground? Aston Villa fans, why hasn't it worked out for the midfielder at Villa Park? Let us know in the comments below!!!
