According to TalkSport Marseille have begun negotiations with Aston Villa over a loan move for midfielder Idrissa Gueye.
The midfielder has had a disappointing season with Aston Villa after moving their in the summer of last year from Lille.
Villa were relegated with just 17 points with every player disappointing and as the club prepares for the Championship, cutting down their wage bill is now the objective which is why Gueye must go.
With Marseille knocking a return to France looks likely with the Ligue 1 side in negotiations.
Gueye is understandably keen to leave Villa after their relegation and new Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo is keen to reduce the wage bill making his intentions of selling a lot of players clear.
The Senegal international is keen for a big move, but for now a move back to France seems likely.
The Villains are set to embark on their first season outside of the Premier League since it was established, and will be keen to avoid overstaying their welcome in the Championship.
