Jordan Veretout does not wish to stay at Aston Villa, he confirmed in an interview with a French media publication.

French media outlet 20 minutes are reporting that Jordan Veretout wants to manufacture a move away from Villa Park this summer.

Aston Villa signed Jordan Veretout in summer 2015 and he arrived with plenty of expectation that he would thrive in England.

However, the former France under-21 international failed to make a significant impact in B6 and could not prevent the Villains from getting relegated to the Championship for the first time in the Premier League era.

Rather than stay and play for Aston Villa in the Championship, Veretout went on loan to Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 last season.

Now, he has been responding to his former president at Nantes, who has criticised him for grabbing money at Aston Villa rather than returning to the club.

The central-midfielder said that he belongs to Aston Villa, has a three-year contract with them and is obliged to return to pre-season training.

But he also added that his wish is to leave and that everyone knows that.

The 24-year-old added that it may be difficult for him to return to Nantes after the club president publicly slammed Veretout.

However, Jordan Veretout still looks likely to force an exit this summer and Aston Villa will have to prepare for life without the Frenchman.
