Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and West Brom are all keen on signing Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers during the January transfer window.

The talented attacking midfielder only has 18 months left on his deal and could leave Griffin Park this month, with the three promotion-chasing sides keen according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

He replied to a question from a fan asking if Albion were also interested in the 27-year-old along with Boro by revealing that Darren Moore does want the player along with Villa too.

The Bees have been known to sell key players over the years and it wouldn't be a surprise if they decided to cash in on the former Walsall man this month.

Sawyers has missed just one game this season, through suspension, but has yet to score and has registered four assists. Two of those assists came in Saturday's 3-1 win over Stoke City.

Aston Villa might feel that they have an advantage over their rivals when it comes to a potential deal as boss Dean Smith has worked with Sawyers at Walsall and for the London club.

The Verdict

You can see why all three sides are interested in Sawyers as he is a player that would enhance each squad as he has a lot of quality on the ball.

Brentford have shown they will accept reasonable offers and with his contract situation this might be their last chance to get a fair price for him.

So, you wouldn't be surprised to see him move, particularly as all three clubs hope to be playing Premier League football next season.
