Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has been given three games to save his job, according to The Daily Star.

After Aston Villa's dreadful start to the season, Bruce's future is once again in jeopardy.

At several points last season, Steve Bruce's job security looked fragile and it now appears to be again.

Tipped by many to win promotion this term, Aston Villa have only picked up one point in their opening three games, which leaves them in 23rd place in the Championship.

After drawing 1-1 with Hull on the opening day, the West Midlands outfit have suffered away defeats against Cardiff City and Reading to leave Bruce's future in a state of uncertainty.

Aston Villa's owner Dr Tony Xia is reportedly willing to give him three games to save his job.

If he has not shown that he is up to the task by the international break, then he will be fired and replaced.

Aston Villa play Norwich City at home on the weekend, followed by a home tie against Wigan Athletic in the Carabao Cup and an away trip to Bristol City on a Friday night.

These are the games that Steve Bruce must show his worth in if he is to remain as Aston Villa manager.

The Verdict

What Aston Villa really need is stability.

They have routinely been appointing the wrong manager for a while now and they need one person to come in, steady the ship and have them fighting for promotion.

However, Steve Bruce does not appear to be that man.

Considering the money that he has spent and the squad that the Villains have at their disposal, they are criminally underachieving.
