There were very few positives for Aston Villa fans as they were comprehensively outplayed by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday evening.

The game had been seen as a real test for the resurgent Villa who had won four on the bounce until the local derby.

However, it was one they failed, with Wolves dominating from the start and in all honesty 2-0 was a scoreline that flattered Steve Bruce's men.

Yet, there was one crumb of comfort for Villa and that was the brief performance of Callum O'Hare.

The 19-year old only came on in the 79th minute but displayed an urgency and drive that had been missing all evening.

Whilst Wolves had clearly eased off, it's no coincidence that the away side's only real threat came with the academy graduate on the pitch.

Afterwards he took to Twitter to share his disappointment at the result but revealed he was glad to get out on the pitch for what was only his second Championship appearance of the season.

He surely has to come into the thinking of Steve Bruce from the start ahead of Saturday's game against Fulham, especially considering the poor performances of Villa's other attackers.

The Verdict

It's pretty damning that the only real positive for Aston Villa was a young substitute coming on when the game was effectively over.

O'Hare brought an energy and drive that was missing for the away side and it's not the first time he has shone this season.

He deserves a chance from the start against Fulham as he looks as though he's more than capable of playing at this level, as fans have thought for a long time.
