Aston Villa's season continued to gather pace yesterday as they saw off Middlesbrough with ease at the Riverside.

Dean Smith's men dispatched the Boro with ease, and they now look firmly like being in the promotion picture come the end of the season if they can maintain their form.

There is looking like being further good news for the club too, with Smith set to sanction a new contract for formerly out of favour winger Albert Adomah.

According to TeamTalk, the 30-year-old is set to be rewarded for his fine form under Smith with a new deal, something which looked a long way from happening under previous manager Steve Bruce.

Adomah was in fine form last season but was seemingly exiled in the summer by former manager Bruce, with the club looking to move the former Middlesbrough man on and bring in new players ahead of the new campaign.

However, with Bruce now gone and Smith in charge, Adomah seems to have been given a new lease of life, and he is set to be rewarded for that fine form with a bumper new deal.

The Verdict

Makes sense this one.

Adomah is a good Championship player and it is bizarre really that Bruce wanted him out of his squad, especially after his form last season.

The winger will be valuable to Villa throughout the season with his experience and technical ability bound to be of use.
