Aston Villa youngster Matija Sarkic will be allowed to leave on loan this summer.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa will loan out goalkeeper Sarkic with Charlton Athletic leading the chase after holding initial discussions over this potential temporary move.

The 21-year-old has never played a senior game for Aston Villa so he will be allowed to leave to gain first-team experience in another environment, with a host of Football League sides enquiring about his availability.

With Jed Steer, Orjan Nyland, Andre Moreira and Mark Bunn ahead of him in the pecking order, the towering former Anderlecht stopper is set for a loan exit.

The Montenegro youth international is highly rated by the Villans and League One clubs are after his signature.

Charlton currently only have one senior goalkeeper - Dillon Phillips - on their books and Australian youngster Ashley Maynard-Brewer had to sit on the bench for them in their opener against Sunderland.

The Verdict

This move works really well for all parties.

Aston Villa reap the long-term benefits of Sarkic readying himself for first-team action, while the player will improve his own game with regular playing time.

Meanwhile, Charlton desperately need a goalkeeper and Sarkic adds competition for places between the sticks.
