Aston Villa are the form side in the Championship at the best possible time of the season.

Dean Smith’s side have won their last eight league games and will be hoping to maintain that impressive winning streak as the season heads towards a conclusion.

One player that has been at the hear of their impressive run of form is Tammy Abraham, with the Chelsea loanee having 24 goals to his name so far in this year’s league campaign.

But with the forward only being on loan until the end of the season, Villa will have to start preparing for life without their in-form striker.

Abraham has already revealed that he is hoping to stake a claim for a regular starting spot with Chelsea when he returns to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

So, with Abraham departing at the end of the season, one player in particular will be keen to show Aston Villa fans what he can offer their team.

Jonathan Kodjia has been forced into a wide position in the Aston Villa starting XI due to the good run of form shown by Abraham.

But there’s no doubting that his best position in the starting XI is in the central striking role.

In his first season with Aston Villa, Kodjia netted 19 league goals, but then struggled to build on that in the following seasons which will have been disappointing to see.

But with just four games remaining of the Villains’ season this year, the Ivorian can’t afford to wait around for his chance in the side, and he needs to impress as quickly as possible.

If he doesn’t do this, then it’s likely that we could see a new striker signed in the summer as Abraham’s replacement, which would all but end Kodjia’s chances of being able to occupy the starting striker role in Dean Smith’s side.

It’s a make or break period of the season for the former Bristol City man, who needs to showcase his talent as quickly as possible, otherwise his future at Aston Villa could be all but over.
