It is looking highly likely that Leeds United will be facing another season in the Sky Bet Championship, with the club’s play-off hopes fading fast after a disastrous start to 2018.

Leeds are yet to pick up a victory in 2018, which has resulted in the Whites slipping to 11th in the Championship table and eight points adrift of the top-six.

Paul Heckingbottom is facing a mammoth task if he is to turn things around and get Leeds in the play-offs, and there is every chance that those at Elland Road will be looking to next season and a big summer of recruitment.

Leeds have a competitive squad in the Championship, but a serious lack of discipline has cost the Whites this season, with suspensions working against the club in early 2018.

One man guilty of failing to control himself has been Gaetano Berardi, who picked up his second red-card of the season against Cardiff City earlier this month.

Here at FLW, we look at two players Leeds could target to replace the Swiss defender in the summer…

Hutton looks set to leave Villa Park on a free this summer, despite playing a crucial role in helping Steve Bruce’s side into promotion contention this season.

Like Berardi, the former Scottish international has the ability to play at both right-back and left-back, proving to be versatile.

A stumbling block could be the 33-year-old’s wages, but the experience Hutton would bring could be him an extremely shrewd addition at Elland Road.

Coyle will certainly be returning to Elland Road in the summer, when his loan deal at Fleetwood Town expires.

The academy product has been extremely impressive in League One under Uwe Rosler, and there were plenty of calls for Leeds to recall him during the January transfer window.

However, Leeds opted not to recall Coyle and decided to wait until the summer.

When he returns to Elland Road, you can see the 22-year-old edging ahead of Berardi in the pecking order.
