Aston Villa defender John Terry is keen to get into management once his career comes to an end, after seeing former international teammate and captain Steven Gerrard appointed Rangers manager this week.

In a report issued by the Daily Mail with quotes from the Mirror, Terry said it would be a 'shame' if his 'generation of players' didn't give something back to the game when they have all retired, with the likes of Frank Lampard joining Terry and Gerrard in conversations about future management roles.

"Management is a big thing I want to go into. I would like to give it a go. It would be a shame if our generation of players like myself, Lamps and Stevie are not giving back after the careers we have had" added Terry.

Terry went on to say he was taking his A licence in the summer, and he also backed himself to succeed after playing under some of the greatest managers in the game in the likes of Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, and Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Chelsea skipper has had a superb season with Aston Villa, and will be hoping to win out through the playoffs as he seeks one more season in the top flight of English football before bowing out.
