Derby made a major statement in the transfer market earlier in the week by announcing the double loan signings of Harry Wilson and Mason Mount.

The two youngster, who play for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively, are very highly-rated and head to Pride Park on the back of very successful previous loan spells.

Wilson was a star for Hull City, scoring seven goals in 13 games as they managed to stay up in the Championship last season, whereas Mount was the fans player of the year at Vitesse in Holland where he scored 14 goals.

Yet, whilst those arrivals will bring a lot of hope and optimism to fans of the Rams, there’s no doubt that further additions are needed, with Frank Lampard’s squad looking weak in certain areas.

Here we suggest three Championship signings that would seriously improve the Derby side…

Rangers have made several bids to land the Millwall defender and whilst the Lions are reluctant to sell, he’s a player Derby should be after too.

Cooper is a dominant centre-back who at 23-years old is only going to get better and better. So, instead of adding to an aging defence with John Terry, Lampard should go for Cooper who will cost a hefty fee but will be worth it in the long run.

If Derby sell Matej Vydra, as expected, then Lampard could have some serious funds to use in the market.

And, with Derby needing a left-back they should make an ambitious move for Bristol City’s Joe Bryan. He is arguably the best player in his position in the Championship and would solve a problem position for the side.

Another area the Rams are short is up top, so Lampard will be on the lookout for a new number nine.

He should be looking to take advantage of Aston Villa’s dire financial situation and make a move for Hogan. The former Brentford man struggled at Villa Park but he was lethal at Griffin Park.

Derby are likely to play a stylish brand of football and his movement and intelligence could see him flourish in this system like he did for the Bees.
