Aston Villa man delivers classy message to Ryan Mason following retirement

Robert Snodgrass has delivered a message to Ryan Mason, after confirmation today that the Hull City midfielder was retiring from the game following a serious injury.

The Aston Villa winger has taken to Twitter to deliver a message to Mason, who has been advised to end his playing career after over a year battling to get back to fitness following a clash of heads, which led to a fractured skull.

Mason has this morning announced his retirement from the game, with Snodgrass one of many professionals to deliver a message to the 26-year-old following his decision.

Snodgrass and Mason crossed paths at Hull briefly during the 2016/17 campaign, with the duo involved in the Premier League season with the Tigers last year before Snodgrass’ move to West Ham United in the January transfer window.

Mason had previously played for Tottenham Hotspur during his playing career, whilst also representing a number of other Football League clubs during an early stage of his playing career.

The Verdict

Mason’s announcement is devastating, as a truly exceptional player has been forced into retirement at such a young age.

The midfielder was respected within the footballing community, which is reflected by the messages he has received, not just from Snodgrass.

Snodgrass’ message is a mark of how well respected Mason was amongst his former teammates.
