Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that the club are “close” to securing a double deal, according to Leon Wobschall of the Yorkshire Post.
Wobschall was reporting on Doncaster’s press conference and Darren Ferguson confirmed that a deal to sign Everton’s Conor Grant was almost finalised.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been on loan at Doncaster since January and has been impressing.
The former England under-18 international has never made a senior appearance for Premier League side Everton and he could move to Doncaster on a permanent deal this summer.
Ferguson confirmed that agreeing on personal terms was the only thing left to complete.
Darren Ferguson also confirmed that Aston Villa defender Niall Mason is “close” to completing a deal which would see him return to the club on loan next season.
With Doncaster already promoted to League One, the natural next step in the 20-year-old’s career is to move up a division and Villa seem keen to allow him to return on loan next season.
