Bournemouth are considering a loan move for Aston Villa outcast Frederic Guilbert ahead of the 5pm deadline tomorrow.

The French full-back signed for Villa in January 2019 and linked up with the squad last year as they prepared for the Premier League, featuring in 25 games as they survived on the final day.

However, the arrival of Matty Cash in the summer has limited the 25-year-old's game time, with Ahmed Elmohamady another option for Dean Smith for that role. As a result, Guilbert didn't even make the bench for the remarkable 7-2 win over Liverpool and it appears he will be allowed to leave if a club comes in.

And, Football Insider have revealed that the Cherries want to sign the ex-Caen man, with an initial loan move lined up.

Jack Stacey is the current right wing-back in Jason Tindall's preferred back three system and whilst Adam Smith could play there, he is starting on the opposite flank, meaning the squad lack depth in that position.

The update states that Guilbert earns around £20,000 a week in the west Midlands and Bournemouth would have to pay most, if not all, to seal a deal.

The verdict

Some Villa fans feel that Guilbert has been harshly treated in the past year, even if Cash is a clear upgrade at full-back.

He is a strong competitor, fast and decent on the ball, so it would be a smart addition for the Cherries.

When you consider that it would be a loan deal initially, it makes a lot of sense and he would provide good competition for Stacey, so the club should look to tie this up quickly.
