It has been a frustrating couple of years for Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Blues struggling at the wrong end of the table.

In the last two seasons, Birmingham have found themselves fighting relegation in the Championship, with Garry Monk the man to eventually guide the Blues to safety during the 2017/18 campaign.

Monk oversaw the final stage of last season, with a 3-1 victory over Fulham on the final day of the season keeping Birmingham in the Championship.

Next year, Birmingham’s supporters are hoping to see a challenge in the Championship, particularly with Monk now in charge at St Andrew’s.

The ex-Swansea, Leeds and Middlesbrough boss has plenty of experience, and given money to spend this summer, he will be able to impress.

Here at FLW, we take a look at some of Monk’s options this summer, identifying FOUR players Birmingham could look to sign…

Green is a free agent this summer and previously worked with Monk at Leeds, where the two enjoyed a successful year.

The goalkeeper would bring plenty of experience to St Andrew’s and would be a good short-term option to solve Birmingham’s goalkeeping dilemma.

Bartley is another Monk has worked with over his career.

The centre-back is currently with Swansea, but Birmingham could tempt Monk’s former club to sell this summer.

In the Championship, Bartley is a superb centre-back.

Taylor struggled for opportunities at Villa Park last season, and with Villa looking to move players on this summer, the Welshman could be sacrificed.

Monk knows Taylor from their days at Swansea and could look to take advantage of Villa’s struggles.

It’d be a brave move, but one that could be exciting for Birmingham.

Gallagher had a decent loan spell with Birmingham last season and Monk should be looking to get him back on board.

James Beattie is part of Monk’s coaching staff and the ex-England forward could hep the 22-year-old develop into a fine talent.
