Aston Villa owner Dr. Tony Xia has tweeted that he could try to persuade Jordan Veretout to stay at Aston Villa for next season.

Jordan Veretout is currently on a season-long loan at Saint-Etienne, who play in French Ligue 1.

After impressing for Saint-Etienne, Jordan Veretout has been linked with a move away from Villa Park with Dr. Tony Xia confirming that "some clubs" had expressed an interest in the midfielder.

Veretout joined Aston Villa in summer 2015 but struggled to find his feet in the Premier League as Aston Villa were relegated last season.

The Frenchman has impressed with some strong central midfield displays during his time in France, though, and Aston Villa might look to keep him for next year.

Dr. Tony Xia tweeted the news after he saw a clip of the 24-year-old in action against Dijon, where he netted a fine individual goal.

Aston Villa look set to be in the Championship again next season, after a win over Wigan saw them move into the top half and eleven points clear of the drop.

Aston Villa fans - what do you make of Xia's message? Would you keep Veretout next season? Can you keep him if there's interest from Ligue 1 clubs? Let us know in the comments below...
