Aston Villa appear to be making moves already under Dean Smith, with the club reportedly eyeing up a move for Jamaican striker Alex Marshall.

According to a report in the Sunday People (print edition, Sunday 14th Ocotber), the Villans want to sign the 20-year-old, who has been catching the eye with some excellent displays for his hometown club Cavalier, while also making the jump to international football too.

Villa however will face competition from others, with Spurs also reportedly taking a keen interest in the youngster ahead of the January window.

Marshall will no doubt be overwhelmed by any potential interest from the likes of Villa and Spurs, and any sort of move for his signature will no doubt have to be seriously considered by the player.

It remains to be seen whether Marshall is actually the subject of any concrete bids, but it would not be a surprise to see Villa manager Dean Smith make a move for someone like Marshall, with the former Walsall man making a name for himself at Brentford by signing relatively unknown players and turning them into success stories.

Villa fans, what do you make of this? Would you be happy to see the club take a punt on Marshall? Let us know in the comments!
