Aston Villa want to sign Robert Snodgrass on loan from West Ham United yet again this summer, according to The Birmingham Mail.

After being frozen out by Slaven Bilic at West Ham, Snodgrass moved to Aston Villa on loan last summer for the 2017/18 season and impressed thoroughly.

The Scotland international scored seven goals and provided 14 assists to help his side reach the play-off final.

With a new manager at the helm in Manuel Pellegrini, Snodgrass has returned to West Ham and is hoping to impress the former Manchester City boss.

But Aston Villa are waiting to hear whether the Hammers plan to use the 30-year-old next season and would like to sign him on loan if not.

Snodgrass recently played in a pre-season friendly against the Villans, receiving a good reception and scoring a goal against his former club.

The Verdict

As fantastic as this would be for Aston Villa, I think it is premature to start getting carried away with this rumour.

Snodgrass has impressed for the Irons over pre-season, he is a popular figure and it looks like Pellegrini could give him a second chance, so the chances of Aston Villa signing him are not that high.

However, if they did manager to bring him back to Villa Park, their options going forward would be vastly improved.
