Aston Villa are reportedly leading the race to sign Hull City striker Abel Hernandez in this summer’s transfer window.

According to Leeds Live, Steve Bruce’s side are favourites to secure the Uruguayan forwards signature, if they can gain promotion to the Premier League.

The Tigers striker is out of contract this summer, and after bagging himself 28 goals in 49 Championship appearances for Nigel Adkins side, it comes as no surprise that the Villans are looking to sign the talisman.

The Claret and Blue Army will travel to Wembley and play for the chance to win promotion to England’s top flight in this seasons Championship play-off final on the 26th May.

If Villa miss out on promotion, a number of other clubs are said to be interested in signing the striker, including already promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers and Championship side Leeds United.

The Verdict

Steve Bruce already knows the importance of their play-off final against Fulham, but with it seeming likely Abel Hernandez will only join a side that can guarantee Premier League football, it adds a little more pressure to this occasion.

With a goalscoring record of his calibre, Villa will find it hard to find a Championship striker of that quality on the market again this summer.
