Aston Villa launch bid to sign 11-goal Championship midfielder

Aston Villa have submitted an £8.9m bid for Brentford winger, Said Benrahma according to a latest report from Le 10 Sport.

The Algerian was hugely impressive for the Bees this season, as he scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists for Thomas Frank’s side.

But they missed out on a top six finish, which is likely to lead to potential player departures from Griffin Park before next year’s campaign gets underway.

Dean Smith seemingly sees Benrahma as a player that can make the step up to the Premier League for his Villa side next season.

The pair have previously worked together when Smith was in charge of Brentford, and he’s seemingly wasting no time in adding some much-needed depth to his attacking options.

The report does also claim that a number of other teams are keeping tabs on Benrahma heading into the summer, and it’s previously been reported by TEAMtalk, that Arsenal and Tottenham are some of the teams interested in landing his signature.

Villa recently announced that Albert Adomah was leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of this month.

Smith’s men have also confirmed the signing of Jota from local rivals, Birmingham, so the Villa Park faithful will certainly be pleased to see their side getting their transfer business conducted at the earliest of opportunities.

The Verdict:

This would be an excellent signing by the Villans.

Benrahma really impressed me last season, and he’s a player that can change the course of a game on his own at times, and he would be a real threat from out wide for Dean Smith’s side.

He’s a player with real quality, and would be more than capable of making the step up to the Premier League.
