According to the Irish Independent, Aston Villa have become the latest club to join the race to land Irish midfielder Daryl Horgan.

The 24-year-old is also being tracked by a number of Championship clubs such as Newcastle United, Reading, Ipswich and Preston and three MLS clubs are also keen.

Daryl Horgan is enjoying an incredible season for Dundalk.

The Irish club are exceeding everyone’s expectations in the Europa League and currently sit 2nd in Group D with two games to play.

They even came close to beating Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg twice with Horgan scoring in the 2-1 away loss.

Horgan has also helped Dundalk win the League of Ireland Premier Division and they are prepared to face Cork City in the FAI Cup Final today.

Scouts from the aforementioned clubs are set to watch Horgan in action during the cup final.

The tricky goalscoring winger has also earned a call-up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad following his impressive performances recently.

Aston Villa fans – what do you think? Can you win the race to sign Horgan? Would he be a good signing?
