Premier League side Aston Villa are interested in signing Preston North End loanee Jordan Pickford from parent club Sunderland, according to the Sun.
The Lilywhites won promotion to the Championship last year from League One and have maintained a solid start to second tier life, given that they were expected to be right at the bottom by many bookmakers.
They have the Championship’s joint strongest defence that has goalkeeper Jordan Pickford between the sticks, whom they bought in on loan over the summer, after he impressed at Bradford last year.
He’s kept three clean sheets in four appearances so far and recently made his first appearance for the England under-21’s, subsequently attracting interest from Aston Villa.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood is growing frustrated with goalkeeper Brad Guzan and spent the summer looking for alternative options with little success – he seemingly hopes that Pickford could be his keeper for the long term future, at the tender age of 21.
