Aston Villa are set to battle League One side Portsmouth for Lincoln City star Bruno Andrade, according to a report from Lincolnshire Live.

The 25-year-old Portuguese winger has been in fine form for the Imps this season, bagging ten goals as they stormed to the League Two title.

He joined in the summer after spending time with Woking and Boreham Wood in the National League, but he has top flight pedigree. He once made a Premier League appearance for Queens Park Rangers and title winner Raheem Sterling counts him as an influence in his formative years.

The left winger is no stranger to Kenny Jackett, having gone to Fratton Park on trial in 2018, before his move to Sincil Bank. They chose not to take him on then, a mistake which could prove to be costly if they want his services now.

He is currently contracted to Lincoln for another season, but manager Danny Cowley has already admitted he may have to 'trade players' in order to find a competitive budget for the next level.

The Verdict

This would be a big move for Andrade, but he does have that little bit of something special.

He's quick, tricky and has both goals and assists in his game.

He's matured during his time in the non-league scene and stepped up to League Two with consummate ease.

A move to Pompey might be better, but he wouldn't be making a step up in terms of division, unless of course they overturn that first leg deficit against Sunderland.
