The permanent transfer window may be closed for Football League clubs, but they can still sign players on loan and Aston Villa are hoping to do just that.

Watford striker Isaac Success is a loan target for Aston Villa, according to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Thursday 9th August, 22:36].

Success is down the pecking order at Watford and could be allowed out on loan for his own development.

The once-capped Nigeria international joined Watford in 2016 from Granada and has played 20 games for the club, scoring once, although only two of his appearances have been starts.

Last January, Success moved on loan to Malaga in Spain, where he failed to score in nine games.

The 22-year-old scored seven goals for Granada before moving to England but he is looking for a move to resurrect his stalling career.

Aston Villa could offer Success a route out of Watford on a temporary deal and he will compete with Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan, Keinan Davis and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy if he does complete this switch.

The Verdict

Aston Villa probably need another striker on loan, with injuries to Hogan, Davis and Hepburn-Murphy at the moment.

Success is a raw talent and it will be a gamble to bring him in.

With pace and strength and the ability to play out wide as well, the young forward could prove to be a masterstroke or another flop.
