Aston Villa will be looking to keep their promotion charge on track when they face QPR at home this weekend in the Championship.

Up to this point, it's been a good season so far for the Villans with them challenging up near the top of the league and demonstrating their ability to get on long-running winning streaks.

However, despite that they still find themselves behind Cardiff by four points as well as a further six behind current league leaders Wolves.

Some, then, think that the Bluebirds might just be able to catch Wolves before the end of the campaign but do many think the Villans can as well? Stan Collymore for one, does not.

As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, the former striker turned pundit has said that it is doubtful they can overhaul their Midlands rivals but that second place is still on:

"Can they catch Wolves? Doubtful, but absolutely they can go up in second place."

The Verdict

Certainly, there's only four points between Cardiff and Villa right now and that is nothing in the Championship.

Villa were second not too long ago and that shows you how quickly it can change depending on who the momentum is with.

With a winnable game up next against QPR, then, Villa will be looking to build another streak after beating Sheffield Wednesday last time out.
