Aston Villa outcast Ross McCormack will be returning to Villa Park, after injury has cut short his season- long loan deal at A-League side Central Coast Mariners, as reported on the A-League website.

McCormack has been frozen out since arriving at Villa in 2016, having previously spent loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Melbourne City, and with a spell on the treatment table his future at Villa Park is uncertain.

So would you say this injury will spell the end of McCormack's career in England?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

It certainly looks that way, which is a great shame.

Aston Villa have ruined him. Five years ago you wouldn’t have ever imagined McCormack’s career would nosedive like this.

He was great for Leeds and Fulham and it is a shame to see where he is now.

Jay Taylor

I think so.

If it weren’t, he would have been on loan to an English club instead of a move back to Australia.

With this lengthy injury blow, too, it could see his career come to a close altogether – even if it doesn’t, it will certainly affect him going forward.

Once one of the hottest properties going in the EFL, his career has gone downhill somewhat in recent seasons.

Louie Chandler

It was done already.

It is a shame for McCormack who regret his move to Aston Villa every day of his life.

But after a few months at Villa Park the reality set in that he was never going to hit the same heights he had previously hit at Fulham and Leeds.

George Harbey

I think it was over a long time ago.

He was fantastic at Leeds and Fulham, but his move to Villa stagnated his career.

It’s a real shame, he was class back in the day.
