Aston Villa handed timely boost ahead of Championship run-in

Steve Bruce has been handed a major boost ahead of Aston Villa’s clash with Norwich City this weekend, with three first-team players returning to training, confirms the club’s official Twitter account.

Defender Nathan Baker, who limped out of Villa’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month, has trained all week and will be pushing to regain his place in the first-team.

Impressive youngster, Andre Green, has also returned to training and will be hoping to add to his 14 appearances between now and the end of the season.

Gabby Agbonlahor is also set to return to training today, ahead of Norwich’s visit tomorrow.

Bruce’s side had won five of their last six fixtures prior to the international break, lifting Villa into the top-half of the Sky Bet Championship table.

Villa will now be boosted by the return of three injured players, ahead of the Championship run-in, where Bruce will be encouraging his side to put as much pressure of the top-six.

Bruce’s side trail sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday by 11-points, and with just eight-fixtures of the season remaining, Villa will seemingly have to remain unbeaten between now and the end of the season to make the Play-Offs.

Villa fans… Are you pleased to see this injured trio returning to training? Let us know in the comments!
