Steve Bruce has been handed a boost ahead of tomorrow's play-off final against Fulham with the news that Ahmed Elmohamady is fit to play.

The Egyptian international had been a doubt after going off injured in the first leg of the semi-final against Middlesbrough which meant he missed the secong leg at Villa Park.

Given that, he was a doubt for the big game at Wembley but journalist Neil Moxley of the Sunday People revealed on Twitter that the former Hull man has trained this week and is ready to play.

Whether he does get the nod remains to be seen, with James Bree coming in and doing a good job against Boro last time out.

However, Elmohamady has been a key man for Villa this season, playing 44 times in the league and forming a good partnership with Robert Snodgrass down the right-hand side, so it would be a surprise if he wasn't recalled.

Other than that, Bruce has no new injury concerns ahead of the massive clash against the Cottagers.

The Verdict

This is great news for Villa as the right-back is a solid player at this level and Bruce will want Elmohamady's experience against the talented Ryan Sessegnon.

Bree came in and did well against Boro but over the course of the season Elmohamady has been a reliable performer and he should start.

He has experience of winning this game at Wembley having beaten Sheffield Wednesday for Hull two years ago and that will only benefit Villa.
