Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan is having a medical at Fulham ahead of his proposed switch to the West London side, according to Sky Sports News.

Bryan was on the verge of completing a move to Aston Villa yesterday but Fulham's late interest has made him change his mind.

The 24-year-old prefers a move to the Premier League, where he will be joining recently promoted Fulham for their campaign back in the top flight.

The Cottagers had targeted a permanent move for Matt Targett but have turned their attention to Bryan at the last minute, just as he was set to undergo a medical at Villa Park.

Bristol City had accepted a £6m bid from Aston Villa for their academy product but the West Midlands side are set to miss out.

Bryan, who plays predominantly as a left-back but can also play anywhere in midfield, has played well over 200 games for the Robins since breaking into the first-team.

The Verdict

Bryan is a very good signing for Fulham and a major shame for Aston Villa to miss out.

The attack-minded left-back is versatile, young and experienced, making him the perfect addition.

Bristol City now need a replacement as Bryan leaves a major void at the back, especially after Aden Flint left earlier in the window.
